Rotating drum biological contactor for immobilization of the white-rot fungus Irpex lacteus and degradation of textile dyes
Original language description
In this paper we studied a specific application of rotating drum biological contactor. The reactor contained white rot fungus Irpex lacteus immobilized on mixture of straw and plastic particles situated in the drum. The straw was used as a natural and cheap source of nutrients for white rot fungus. However, the adding of glucose was necessary to keep the long time operation. The presence of plastic particles in the drum of the reactor appeared to be beneficial for its long time operation as the adhesionof white rot fungus to the particles was very low and the free way for liquid passage in the drum was kept despite abundant growth of fungus.
