Bubble adhesion dynamics under presence of different surfactants
Original language description
Knowledge of bubble-particle interaction is important in many industrial processes such as in flotation. While the collision (first interaction sub-process) between bubbles and particles is influenced only by hydrodynamic forces, the bubble behaviour during the attachment (second sub-process) is influenced both by hydrodynamic and surface forces. The aim of this project was to investigate the behaviour of bubbles during their attachment onto the hydrophobic surface in aqueous solutions of surface activeagents. In this study different types of surfactants were studied: non-ionic pentaethylene glycol monododecyl ether C12E5, non-ionic Triton X-100, cationic DTAB and anionic SDS. The bubble adhesion is a complex phenomenon and its description is dependent on numerous processes. Therefore semi-static surface tension, bubble velocity, drop wetting and dynamic surface tension were studied firstly in order to find a relation between them. Then the bubble attachment was studied experimentally
