The assessment of efficiency of in-plant milk-run distribution system in cable manufacturing for automotive industry
Original language description
In this paper we present the design of in-plant milk-run distribution system among the halls and warehouse in the production plant of a company producing cables for automotive industry. In-plant milk-run distribution system is designed in Witness simulation software environment using Microsoft Excel for input data loading and outputs upgrading. We simulate 8 scenarios differing in a way that material flow is handled using the train consisting of a tow truck and trolleys. Desired outputs coming from the simulation are defined routes, timetable and utilization of the train, number of rides and loads and the distance covered by the train during the simulated period and the queues of palettes waiting for handling in halls.
