Flow Measurement
Original language description
The chapter provides an overview of the functional principles used to measure flow and mass flow. The chapter describes the following groups of flowmeters: positive displacement meters; velocity flowmeters (differential pressure flowmeters, variable area flowmeters (rotameters), spring-loaded variable area flowmeters and target (paddle) flowmeters, turbine flowmeters, electromagnetic flowmeters, ultrasonic flowmeters; vortex flowmeters); mass flowmeters (Coriolis flowmeters, thermal mass flowmeters); flow measurement in open channels (weirs and flumes). Methods installations of flow meters in technological apparatuses are described. They are summarized advantages and disadvantages of individual types of flowmeters. Criteria for the selection of suitable flowmeter for a particular purpose are given.
