Ecological Considerations in Scheduling of Batch Processes
Original language description
The most exact approach used in solving the campaign scheduling problem of multiproduct batch plant has been to formulate it as an MINLP problem and then employ optimization techniques to solve it. But too long computational times are needed in t becauseof the NP-hard nature of the scheduling problem. Tabu search heuristic belongs to the approaches that allow to speed-up the computational process considerable. On the other hand it does not guarantee finding of the global optimum but optimum solution. Our computational experiments show it is reasonable to use length of tabu list 7 and to generate a neighbourhood for examination by interchanging locations of two elements. When the usual objec makespan) is substitute by minimizing of waste treatment costs or product changeover costs generally, it can be find such a schedule that significantly reduced the amount of waste.
