A fundamental study of the physicochemical properties of Rhodiasolv (R) Polarclean: A promising alternative to common and hazardous solvents
Original language description
A fundamental study of the physicochemical properties of Rhodiasolv(R)Polarclean (with a dominant component methyl-5-(dimethylamino)-2-methyl-5-oxopentanoate) is presented. Rhodiasolv(R)Polarclean, a water soluble polar solvent constitutes a promising alternative to common and hazardous solvents used in chemical processes. For the first time, vapor pressure, density, viscosity, and surface tension in the temperature range 283-333 K and at atmospheric pressure are reported. On the basis of obtained experimental data, the values of the critical temperature, critical pressure, wetting enthalpy, coefficient of thermal expansion and molar refraction of Rhodiasolv(R)Polarclean were estimated. Furthermore, a direct comparison of Rhodiasolv(R)Polarclean properties (density, viscosity and surface tension) with those of common and green solvents manifested its unique properties.
