Hand-held XRF was used for the screening of a cycle of Early Romanesque frescoes in the church of St. George at Kostoľany pod Tribečom, Slovakia. After the first stage of the prerestoration research coming out from non-invasive measurements and microanalysis of very limited amount of samples, the relics of full-area 19th century re-paints by zinc and barite whites has been distinguished. The original colouring of paintings based namely on the detailed screening of Cu and Pb was partly re-established.

Czech description
Přenosná XRF byla použita ke screeningu cyklu raně románských maleb v kostele Sv. Juraja v Kostolanech pod Tribečom, Slovensko. Neinvazívním průzkumem byly identifikovány zbytky rozsáhlých přemaleb z 19. století provedených Zn a Ba bělobou a byla také částečně rekonstruována původní barevnost podle měření Cu a Pb.
