ALMA Laboratory is a joint workplace established by association contract between the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in 2004. In the long term, research in ALMA is conducted in three fundamental specialisations. Methodical research covers the testing and development of micro-analytical and non-invasive methods for investigation of works of art; within the material research, ALMA studies art materials from the viewpoint of their origin, preparation, composition, technological properties and secondary changes that often take place as a result of interactions in the paint layer, or interaction with the environment. This article summarizes the most important results published in international scientific journals.
