An Art History of Place
Original language description
The author expands horizontal art history of Piotr Piotrowski with non-destructive archeological methods as offered in the writings of Christian Norberg-Schulz and analyzes concrete places where art was created and exhibited in Czechoslovakia before 1989. Different types of places such as private apartments, corridors, cellars and attics, tennis courts, fields and many other unusual public spaces can be found on the map. This scholarly study has contributed to raising awareness of the issues surrounding art created in Central and Eastern Europe during the totalitarian era.
