Uroboros Festival 2024 – Nesting Across Difference
Original language description
Uroboros is an annual festival for artistic and design research inquiries into more-than-human co-existence. Attending to ‘more-than-human’ as involving both multispecies nature and algorithmic agencies, Uroboros provides a co-creative, transdisciplinary place for researchers and practitioners of diverse backgrounds — both human and others. Since 2022, the main festival program has been complemented by a year-round activity in the form of a festival school, titled Uroboros Loops. The 2024 Uroboros theme Nesting Across Difference brought up difference as a key element of more-than-human worlds, as places made up of many nests: temporary places of safety, comfort, and belonging. In 2024, the main festival program took place from October 14 to December 12, 2024, across several locations in Prague (Kampus Hybernská, Kulturní Centrum Křenovka, Petrohradská Kolektiv, DDM Stodůlky) as well as online. The program included a total of 9 full-day events: two workshops, two symposia, two audiovisual performances, two performative meetups, and one lecture. A total of 319 participants attended the events in person, while the live-streamed events received 385 views on the Uroboros YouTube channel. The Uroboros Loops festival school unfolded as 4 cycles (“loops”) organised between February 12 and November 8, 2024 in Czechia, Finland and Norway, specifically: 1) Creative AI (Prague, CZ) – 8 events, 200 participants, 2) Algorithmic Resistance (Prague and other cities in CZ) – 8 events, 183 participants, 3) Feral Fields (Helsinki, Finland) – 21 events, 100 participants, 3)Alter Eco/S: Un/Learning in Climate Dissonance (Oslo, Norway) – 10 events, 200 participants.
