Differences in the evaluation of an onset transient and stable tone in an organ pipe sound
Original language description
The research paper presents the results of a study on the difference in evaluated qualities of an onset transient (the onset) and a pseudo-stationary tone (the tone) of a sound of an organ pipe and on the reliability of the associated sound evaluation. The results suggest evaluated sound quality of an onset and tone of an organ pipe may considerably and significantly differ on a same setting of voicing parameters (as attributed to a difference in sound-production mechanism). The extent of the evaluated quality on the transient and tone sound component may therefore independently vary on various voicing settings and may result in variance in the overall assessment. The results are of importance to the validity of assessment of organ sound as well as of other sound sources.
