Do not consider it a recipe book; consider it as a guide to what to look for, where to look, and when to look. A guidebook of strategies and attitudes. And, hopefully, mostly as an inspirational trigger to train your awareness of what material, structures, space, time, and audiences do and how to combine them into structures that ‘can work’. Because it is the awareness of reality, the dialogue with reality and the (often soft) shift of the perception of reality that are the main ‘gestures’ of contemporary dramaturgy.
