The Landscape of humanism
Original language description
The paper describes the influence of Saint Francis of Assisi on artistic development in the 13th century, specifically on the perception of landscape and its role in humanist art. The Franciscan motto “Spirituality, path, arte” inspired young artists to search for new artistic forms that were freed from the traditional biblical canon. As a result, the humanist landscape became a key motif in their works, leading to an artistic revolution that culminated in Florence, where prosperous merchants financed the city’s architectural and artistic flourishing. The result was a new concept of art, where artists gained prestige based on their originality and ability.
