  • Original language description

An electrochemical device for oil spill detection on water surfaces based on conductometric principles is described measuring the abrupt big change of resistivity if the water level is covered by an oil layer. This detection device consists of two copperwire electrodes fixed on a support floating on the water layer and connected by cable with the monitoring unit giving a two level answer-'Yes' or 'No' - on ev. oil spill presence. The system is used on many places for purposes of river water surveillance.
