Electrochemical methods sensitively detect the formation of hostůguest complexes of cyclodextrins and three redoxůactive pesticides: vinclozoline (3ů(3,5ůdichlorophenyl)ů5ůmethylů5ůvinylů1,3ůoxazolidineů2,4ůdione), iprodione (3ů(3,5ůdichlorophenyl)ůNů(1ůmethylethyl)ů2,4ůdioxoů1ůimidazolidinecarboxamide), and procymidone (3ů(3,5ůdichloroůphenyl)ů1,5ůdimethylů3ůazabicyclo[3.1.0]hexaneů2,4ůdione). The protecting environment of CD cavity allows a fourůelectron heterogeneous reaction leading to a preferential cleavage of the CůCl bonds and conservation of the heterocycle structure for further second electron transfer step. This interpretation is supported by numerical simulation of the voltammetric curves and by quantumůchemical calculations of the LUMO changes of vinclozoline. Electrochemical detection of these hostůguest interactions is by far superior to the spectral methods.
