N,N''-Bis(alpha-picolinoyl)hydrazine H2L, a potentially bis-tridentate conjugated ligand in its doubly deprotonated form L2-, has been used to synthesize the diruthenium(II) complex {(mu-L)[Ru(terpy)](2)}(PF6)(2). Its electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical (UV-Vis-NIR, EPR) investigation reveals a mixed-valent ((RuRuII)-Ru-III) intermediate with electrochemical and spectroscopic characteristics related to those of the {(mu-adc-R)[Ru(bpy)(2)](2)}(3+) ions (adc-R2- = bis-bidentate C-substituted diacylhydrazido(2-) ligands): comproportionation constant K-c = 10(9.0) (CH2Cl2), intervalence charge transfer band at 1000 nm (epsilon = 3800 M-1 cm(-1)), EPR signal at g(perpendicular to) = 2.14, g(parallel to) = 1.953. The non-innocent nature of Ln- is inferred from comparative analysis of the spectroscopic data.

N,N''-Bis(alfa-picolinoyl)hydrazin H2L, potenciálně bis-tridentátní konjugovaný ligand v jeho dvojnásobně deprotonované formě L2-, byl používán k syntéze dirutheniových(II ) komplexů {(mu-L)[Ru(terpy)](2)}(PF6)(2). Jeho elektrochemické a spektroelektrochemické (UV-VIS-NIR, EPR ) studium odhalilo existenci inermediátu se smíšenou valencí ((RuRuII)-Ru-III ) s elektrochemickými a spektroskopickými characteristikami podobnými jako u iontů {(mu-adc-R)[Ru(bpy)(2)](2) }(3+ ) (adc-R2- = bis-bidentate C-substituted diacyl hydrazido(2-) ligands): komproporcionační konstanta K-c = 10(9.0) (CH2CL2), intervalenční pás u 1000 nm (epsilon = 3800 M-1 cm(-1)), EPR signál s g(perpendicular) = 2.14, g(parallel) = 1.953. ?Non-innocent? povaha Ln- je odvozena z komparativní analýzy spektroskopických dat.
