Introduction of tin into mesoporous molecular sieves for oxidation of adamantanone

Result description

Oxidation of adamantanone with hydrogen peroxide to the corresponding lactone was investigated in a liquid phase using mesoporous molecular sieve MCM-41 modified with tin as a catalyst. Two different direct and one post-synthesis procedures were used toprepare well-developed mesoporous molecular sieve (Sn)MCM-41 with concentration of tin in the range from 0.2 to 1.0 wt. %. It was shown that all three types of catalysts exhibited conversions of adamantanone between 50-65 % with the selectivity to the lactone close to 100 %. The adamantanone conversion does not correlate with the overall concentration of tin in MCM-41 or with the concentration of accessible Lewis acid sites associated with tin. This indicates that some amount of tin is hidden in the pore walls of MCM-41 and, therefore, is not accessible. In addition to that, all accessible Lewis sites do not contribute in the same way to the catalytic activity of (Sn)MCM-41. High efficiency of utilization of hydrogen peroxide was found.

Zavedení cínu do mezoporézních molekulových sít pro oxidaci adamantanonu

  • Czech description

Sledovali jsme oxidaci adamantanonu peroxidem vodíku na odpovídající lakton. Reakci jsme prováděli v kapalné fázi, za použití katalyzátoru, mezoporézního molekulového síta MCM-41 modifikovaného cínem. Mezoporézní molekulové síto (Sn)MCM-41 s koncentracícínu v rozmezí od 0.2 do 1.0 hmotnostního procenta jsme připravili dvěma odlišnými přímými postupy a jednou post-syntézní modifikací.
