Molecular sieve catalysts for metathesis reactions
Original language description
Metathesis represents one of the most improtant reactions in organic laboratory and industrial synthesis ranging from the production of ethylene or propylene, different polymers, up to fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals. In this contribution we report onthe development of new heterogeneous catalysts based on mesoporous molecular sieves. Three types of new catalysts are discussed: 1) zeolite based metathesis catalysts; 2) mesoporous molecular sives modified with transition metal oxides (Re2O7, MnO3); 3)mesoporous supports with immobilixed organometallic catalysts of Schrock and Grubbs types. Synthesis, characterization and particularly catalytic properties of these novel metathesis catalysts are discussed with the emphasis on their advantages in comparison with conventional catalysts.
