Unknown properties of well-known zeolites. Transformation of hydrocarbons over ZSM-5
Original language description
The contribution stresses the significant effect of distribution of Al in the framework (not along the crystal and bulk vs. surface), controlled by zeolite synthesis, on the product yields in hydrocarbon transformations over zeolites. This opens a potential for advanced tailoring of zeolite catalyst structure. The effect is demonstrated on methanol to hydrocarbons (MTH) reaction and butene conversion to low olefins, aromatics and paraffins, becoming promising technologies for production of demanded ethylene and propylene. The study employed the recent progress made in methodology for estimation of Al siting in the framework of ZSM-5 zeolites. The exchange capacity and siting of divalent Co(II) ions obtained from analysis of the d-d and CT UV-Vis spectra of Co(II) species in zeolites and 27Al and 29Si MAS NMR provided estimation of the population of the individual Al-Sin-Al sequences.
