Si-rich zeolites are the widest group of catalysts used in industrial processes. One of the key parameters which control properties of Si-rich zeolites is Al siting in the individual framework T sites. Significant progress in determining Al distributionin Si-rich matrices was achieved by the application of 27Al MQ MAS NMR combined with quantum mechanical calculations [1,2]. However, the presence of Al-O-(Si-O)2-Al sequences in these materials significantly affects both Al geometry and NMR parameters [3]. A new general approach therefore is needed to investigate the Al siting in Si-rich zeolite frameworks containing both isolated Al atoms and Al-O-(Si-P-O)n-Al (n = 1,2) sequences.
