Original language description
Electron transfer reactions on high purity grade Zr microelectrode were investigated in borate buffer. Oxidationnproducing a surface layer of ZrO2 occurs at potentials more positive than -0.5 V (against Ag|AgCl|1M-LiCl). Surfacenlayer effectively retards the hydrogen evolution reaction. Mechanistic information was obtained by the application ofncyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
