CHAPTER 12: Consequences of Heavy Bombardment on Prebiotic Synthesis
Original language description
The chemical environment on young planets is significantly influenced by impacting planetesimals, comets and (mostly) asteroids, and recent new lines of evidence suggest a coincidence between a chemically-consequential heavy bombardment of the Hadean Earth and an original date for prebiotic synthesis. We summarize the current state-of-the-art research results concerning impact-induced transformation of atmospheres, planetary surface and synthesis of molecules relevant to prebiotic chemistry.
