Original language description
A method to distinguish the 5.alfa.- from the 5.beta.-isomers of 3-oxosteroid based on lowfrequency 1 H NMR spectra was proposed. Additional 1 H and 13 C NMR characteristics were derived from the comparison of completely assigned spectra of the 5.alfa.-and 5.beta.-isomers. The effect of substitution at different positions of steroid skeleton was evaluated on a series of isomeric 3-oxosteroids.
