A Eukaryotic-Type Serine/Threonine Protein Kinase Is Required for Biofilm Formation, Genetic Competence, and Acid Resistance in Streptococcus mutans
Original language description
We report an operon encoding a eukaryotic-type serine/threonine protein kinase and its cognate phosphatase in Streptococcus pneumoniae. Mutation of the gene produced defects in biofilm formation, genetic competence, and acid resistance, determinants important in caries pathogenesis
Czech name
Serin-threoninová proteinkinasa eukaryotního typu je nutná pro tvorbu biofilmu, genetickou kompetenci a rezistenci ke kyselému pH u Streptococcus mutans
Czech description
Charakterizovali jsme operon kódující serin-threoninovou proteinkinasu eukaryotního typu a její kognátní proteinfosfatasu u Streptococcus mutans. Mutace měla za následek defekty v tvorbě biofilmu, genetické kompetenci a rezistenci ke kyselému pH, důležitých determinantů patogenese zubního kazu
