Novel prokaryotic epoxide hydrolase and Baeyer-Villiger monooxygenase genes from metagenome
Original language description
Three genes encoding functional epoxide hydrolases and four hypothetical Baeyer-Villiger monooxygenase genes were obtained directly from environmental DNA using PCR with consensus-degenerate hybrid oligonucleotide primers followed by semi-specific genome-walking PCR. Retrieved complete structural genes showed high GplusC content (mostly over 61percent) and a database search revealed that maximum percentage identity of these novel proteins to known or putative epoxide hydrolases and monooxygenases variedfrom 41 to 73, and from 47 to 69, respectively
