The new CCS-based separation process is designed for the sequential production of (3S,3'S)-astaxanthin from probiotic yeast biomass and features a biphasic solvent system with high distribution capacity for the separation of this pigment with high purity, as well as an elution system that enables its automated separation at pilot scale and coupled to solvent recycling station. These innovations enable the sustainable production of this natural pigment.
