Simulation of sulphate and reducing agent effect on glass melting
Original language description
The refining by the combination of sulphates and reducing agents is very effective but sensible to the resulting redox of the melt. The bubble removing process under different ratios of sulphates and reducing agent was experimentally followed to find theoptimum agents addition. The maximum on the dependence between bubble growth rate versus redox state of glass was experimentally found. The mathematical modelling of sulphur balance inside the glass melt has shown, that the optimum is due to simultaneous action of sulphur compounds on melt: saturation by sulphur dioxide under lower temperatures and subsequent sulphate decomposition at high melting temperatures.
