Macropolyhedral boron-containing cluster chemistry. Synthesis of the nineteen vertex monocarbaborane [9-(terBuNH2)-(anti)-9-CB18H20] by direct carbon-atom Aufbau
Original language description
The extent of contiguous polyhedral boron-containing cluster chemistry is not limited to single clusters: single cluster units may be conjoined intimately to give contiguous macropolyhedral multi-cluster assemblies in which the constituent clusters are fused with two or more cluster atoms held in common.1,2 The cluster size of such assemblies may be increased by the application of cluster-Aufbau synthetic principles.3 A recognition of this principle of cluster fusion considerably extends the horizons ofboron-based cluster chemistry.
