The paper summarizes the experience acquired during laboratory experimental operation of an IGCT inverter feeding a 3-phase induction machine (IM) as well as practical knowledge gained from the employment of the IGCT switching devices in vehicles of citymass transportation. Among others, overvoltage phenomena occuring between the inverter and the IM, the influence of the feeding cables, and the causes of electromagnetic interference (EMI) were traced.
