Original language description
Impurities and admixtures in steam influence the phase transition and thus co-determine the intensity of adverse effects of wet steam in steam turbines. Recently we developed a new method and device enabling continuous sampling of non-condensed superheated steam diluted with an inert gas. In the present work, the detection limit has been refined down to 3 nm. We compare concentrations and size distributions of heterogeneous particles measured at two powerplants and a heat plant. The concentrations of particles are too small to explain the total mass of chemicals in condensed steam samples.
