Surface tension in the classical nucleation theory
Original language description
The Classical Nucleation Theory (CNT) is a standard theoretical tool for the investigation of nucleation in condensation processes of gaseous systems. It successfully predicts nucleation parameters in many gaseous systems. However, there are significantdiscrepancies between theoretical predictions and experimental data in the case of multicomponent mixtures whose components exhibit surface activity in the liquid phase. We present a rederivation of the nucleation work with emphasis on the description ofsurface adsorption which improves the CNT predictions for systems with surface active admixtures.
