Nonlinear Time Reversal Ultrasonic Spectroscopy in SHM of Aircrafts and Buildings
Result description
Possibilities of two ultrasonic NDT methods combination, considered as a part of SHM systems are discussed in this paper. The first method is acoustic emission (AE), which enables real-time localization of structural damage initiation under operational stimulation conditions. The second method is Nonlinear Elastic Wave Spectroscopy (NEWS), which can be used without structure stimulation. Results obtained are coherent with localized AE sources detected within the loading periods.
