Transition in synthetic jets
Original language description
Experimental data on axisymmetric synthetic jets from Stokes number Sk = 11.5 to 108.8 are analysed using quasi-similarity transformation of governing equations involving one-equation model of turbulence. Velocity spectra reveal a change associated withtransition in turbulence. In a search for a rule governing the transition, the vortices in the organised part of the synthetic jets were modelled as spherical objects. It is found that the transition occurs at the axial distance from the nozzle equal to10 diameters of these objects.
