Determination of the transient vibrations of a rigid rotor attenuated by a semiactive magnetorheological damping device by means of computational modelling
Original language description
Unbalance is the principal cause of lateral vibrations of rotors and of increase of forces transmitted between the rotor and its stationary part. These undesirable effects can be considerably reduced if the damping devices are placed between the rotor and its casing. For this purpose, the application of semiactive magnetorheological dampers has been analyzed. The computational simulations show that controlling damping in the constraint elements leads to reducing amplitude of the rotor vibration and to minimizing the force transmitted between the rotor and its frame. This is significant especially for angular velocities of the rotor rotation larger than the critical speed.
