  • Original language description

    The paper reports algorithmic treatments and numerical experiments an accurate explicit time integration algorithm with a time step size adjustment for finite element computations of wave propagation problems in solids. The partition of unity propertiesof the finite element shape functions is exploited to realize the component-wise partition of equations of motion to longitudinal and shear parts such that the partitioned equations for each wave component can be integrated in accordance with their different wave speeds.
