Dynamics of reattachment region behind backward-facing step in a narrow channel
Original language description
Reattachment region in the channel flow behind backward-facing step is studied for various Reynolds numbers in the range 7-35 thousands (based on incoming flow velocity and step height). Results of experiments obtained using time resolved PIV method applied on the region close to the channel bottom indicating skin friction are to be presented. Dynamical features of the flow-field are studied in detail using Oscillation Pattern Decomposition method. Several types of low-frequency dynamical structures areshown in this region including spirals and nodes. Typical frequencies connected with this structures behavior are evaluated. Time mean picture of the skin friction distribution on the channel bottom is close to2D structure, while dynamical structure isfully 3D.
