Influence of Flow Separation on Transonic Instability

  • Original language description

The mechanism of transonic instability on isolated profiles and on circular cylinder is described. The role of a circulation around the profile is decisive. The instability period is determined as the time needed for the movement of the disturbances around the leading edge. The resonance of this disturbances with the fluctuations in separated flow is evident. The frequency of this instability is possible to express by relations following from this idea. Some results of the instability affection by means of splitter plate are discussed.
