Comparison of Two Transition Models Modified for Low Free-Stream Turbulence
Original language description
The contribution deals with numerical simulations of the laminar/turbulent transition in two-dimensional flows at relatively low free-stream turbulence by means of two transition models - the algebraic transition model coupled with the EARSM turbulence model and the three-equation k-kL-ωmodel. Further, the relation between the free-stream turbulence and the maximum amplification factor necessary for the use of the eN method was adjusted using the XFOIL code. The both modified transition models were verified by means of flows on the flat plate and around airfoils with the transition in attached and separated flows. The eN method was used for the comparison. All tested modifications of transition models give an acceptable agreement with the experimental results.n
