High acceptance di-electron spectrometer - tool for study of hadron properties in the nuclear medium.
Original language description
Restoration of chiral symmetry with increasing baryon density and temperature results in corresponding decrease of the constituent quark masses. As a consequence, one expects more or less pronounced changes in mass and resonance width of vector mesons like p, w, and .fi. when embedded in the nuclear medium. For the e+e.sup.-./sup. -decay channels pioneering work has been performed in Berkeley at the Di-Lepton Spectrometer DLS and - in the ultra-relativistic energy regime - by the CERES and HELIOS experiments at CERN.
