Large-basis no-core shell model.
Original language description
We discus both the translationally invariant and the standard formulation of the nocore shell-model approach. In this ab initio method the effective Hamiltonians are derived microscopically from realistic nucleon-nucleon (NN) potentials as a function ofthe finite harmonic-oscillator (HO) basis space. We present results for three and four nucleon systems interacting by the CD-Bonn or several other NN potentials in model spaces that include up to 50hOmega and 18hOmega HO excitations, respectively. Our results for these light systems are in agreement with results obtained by other exact methods. Also, we calculate properties of C-12using the CD-Bonn and the Argone V8`NN potentials for model spaces up to 5hOmega. Binding energies, rms radii, excitation spectra and electromagnetic properties are discussed. The favorable comparison with available data is a consequence of the underlying NN interaction rather than a phenomenological fit.
