Asymmetric diffraction geometry of the bent crystal monochromator - A way to improve the properties of strain diffractomters.

Result description

The posibility to advantageously exploit the asymmetric diffraction geometry of bent perfect crystals was studied the aim of further icreasing the detector signal and/or resolution of the strain diffractometer in Studsvik. It was proved that, in the caseof strain diffracometers, the asymmetric diffraction geometry of the bent perfect crystal monochromator with output-beam extension can be considerably superior to the asymmetric geometry with output-beam compression usually used in powder diffractometry.
