Investigation of the formation of residual nuclei from radioactive Np-237 and Am-241 targets in reactions with 660-MeV protons.

  • Original language description

The burning of radioactive waste is investigated. Targets from Am-241 and Np-237 were irradiated with 0.66-GeV proton beams. The cross section for the formation of 60 and 80 residual nuclei from Np-237 and Am-241 are determined. The experimental resultsare compared with the theoretical cross sections calculated by the cascade-evaporation model.
