Measurements of Open-Charm Hadrons in Au+Au Collisions at by the STAR Experiment
Original language description
At RHIC energies, charm quarks are primarily produced at early stages of ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions. This makes them an excellent probe of the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) produced in these collisions since they experience the whole evolution of the medium. STAR is able to study the production of charm quarks through direct reconstruction of hadronic decays of open-charm hadrons. This is possible thanks to an excellent vertex resolution provided by the Heavy Flavor Tracker. In these proceedings, we present a selection of the most recent results on open-charm hadron production, in particular the nuclear modification factors of D, elliptic and triangular flow of D, the yield ratio, and the directed flow of D mesons.
