Original language description
The sol-gel polymerization of 3-glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GTMS) was investigated by various methods. Extensive non-random cyclization and formation of polyhedral cycles - predominates at the beginning of the reaction. High content of polyhedralcycles prevents gelation of the trifunctional GTMS. At a later stage the epoxy hydrolysis can be significant and the system can gel.
