Two different size exclusion chromatography systems connected on-line either to a low-angle laser light scattering detector or to a multi-angle laser light scattering detector are employed for size characterization of three batches of hydroxypropyl cellulose from different manufacturers. Both systems are proven to be efficient techniques for characterization of complex polysaccharides.
