Macromolecular design of new synthetic biodegradable medical polymers.

  • Original language description

Synthetic biodegradable polymers with functional groups are essential for development of specific biomaterials. Polyester-based polymers can be functionalized through copolymerization with amino acids. Approaches to the synthesis of statistical poly(ester-amide) copolymers as well as polypeptide/polyester block copolymers and their use as functional biomaterials for tissue engineering are discussed.
