Properties and morphology of polypyrrole containing a surfactant.
Original language description
Highly conducting and stable polypyrrole was synthesized by chemical polymerization in aqueous solution containing an oxidant, FeCl3 or Fe2(SO4)3, and anionic surfactant, sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate. Results of elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy proved that the surfactant was incorporated into the polypyrrole strucute similarly as the doping anion. The conductivity of polypyrrole prepared in the presence of the anionic surfactant is higher than the conductivity of polypyrrole prepared only in thepresence of an oxidant. SEM studies showed that the presence of the surfactant strongly influenced the morphology of the polymer.
