Impact of fiber length and fiber content on the mechanical properties and electrical conductivity of short carbon fiber reinforced polypropylene composites
Original language description
Carbon fibers (CF) are widely used as reinforcing fillers in various application fields, due to their high specific strength and stiffness. Besides superior mechanical performance compared to other reinforcing fibers, CF also offer other advantageous properties that are of increasing interest. Recent studies show very promising results on the thermal and electrical conductivity of CF reinforced polymer composites. The electrical conductivity of the composites with carbon fillers usually lies in the range of semiconductors, which makes them suitable for various applications like antistatic packaging, electromagnetic shielding or bipolar plates for fuel cells.
