Plasma sprayed ceramic coatings have much lower stiffness in comparison to sintered ceramics.The reason for that is their characteristic microstructure with porosity and microcraks decrease the interlamellar cohesion in vertical direction,but also affectthe individual splat properties in the horizontal direction.
