Structure and Properties of Plasma Sprayed TiO2 Ceramics
Original language description
Agglomerated titania nanopowder and a ?conventional titania were sprayed by the high throughput water-stabilized plasma spray system WSP. Phase composition, stoichiometry, density and elastic modulus were then studied at the as-sprayed coatings. ScanningElectron Microscopy, High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy and X-ray diffraction were performed to study the morphology and the crystalline phases of the coatings. Mechanical properties like Vickers microhardness and slurry abrasion responsewere measured. A depth-sensing indentation was done. Friction coefficient and surface roughness evolution before and after friction test were evaluated. The work is concentrated also on electric resistivity of plasma sprayed titania TiO2. Conductive character of the coatings was observed as a consequence of their loss of stoichiometry. The photocatalytic degradation of butane on sprayed coatings was measured.
